A deciduous, woody,
perennial vine capable of climbing up to 5 m (16 ft). After an
infestation has slowly become established Porcelain-berry growth may
become more rapid, producing thick mats that can cover large areas.
This species can out-compete native vegetation for space, water, and
nutrients. Small infestations can be pulled out by hand or cut before
the fruits mature and new growth treated with a water-based solution of
2.5% Garlon 3A. Large infestations can be treated with herbicide late
in the growing season. Follow-up treatments will be necessary for
several years for both treatments.
